I was born and raised in Oak Ridge, TN. My hobbies include losing golf balls with Adam Steffey, Shawn Lane, Greg Hodge, and many of my other bluegrass golfing buddies...hanging out with Blue Highway, the Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, The Isaacs, Phil Leadbetter, Jesco White, and anyone else who allows it...and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Braves, and anyone who beats Greg Biffle or Kurt Busch. I'm really good at buying instruments which I know I will never be able to play. I also like songwriting and photography.
I enjoy spreading the word about the fine musicians that folks outside of the south may not be that familiar with....like Blue Moon Rising, New Road, Jeff Barbra & Sarah Pirkle, and Shadow Ridge. Check them out...you won't be sorry.
I hold a BS degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where I was a member of the football team. I also have a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum College. Now maybe I can become organized and manageable!
I was hooked on bluegrass at an early age thanks to my father's cousin, Luther Warf, of Ewing, VA. In my teenage years, I was lucky enough to get to see the "Knoxville Grass" on a regular basis at Buddy's Bar-B-Q. Paul Brewster and the late Glenn Laney were two of my favorite singers then and continue to be so to this day.
Bluegrass music has allowed me to meet some of the nicest people in the world. I truly enjoy hosting "A Cumberland Sunday Morning" because I believe it fulfills a need for so many of the listeners. Thanks for supporting WDVX and God Bless.
